We have some new guests who will be part of the family for a while.  They are cute and I do enjoy watching them but the drill goes like this.  Cute Ducklings get fed just for being cute and my wife and daughters can't resist, protect and feed them.  Then I'm the bad guy when they start swimming and doing other stuff in the pool and deck when their bigger. :(

Yesterday there was a Hawk trying to get at the Ducklings and my daughter was throwing a stuffed animal at it so it went away. (for now anyway)

We had Muscovys at one time. Not very pretty when they are old,but they are very good mothers.Had more than one person comment on their looks. The claws would get them too.

I had muscovies. Seems like they have an affinity for concrete when they need to relieve themselves. Looked out the window one morning and mama duck had all the ducklings lined up in a skirmish line and they were sweeping the yard for grasshoppers. They would only catch hoppers in their "zone". If one of them got too far out of line, mama would hiss at them (they can't quack).
Finally got tired of the mess on the sidewalks and gave away as many as I could, then put the rest in the freezer. Was curing some hams and bacon sometime later and when the bacon came out of the brine, I dropped on of the frozen ducks in. Smoked it along with the hams and bacon. Looked like ham, tasted like ham.
