Kolve chain

Anyone here remember the Kolve chain?

Had cutters and rakers, and filed it straight across. Actually, the round stone in a drill worked best for it.

Must have been nearly 30 years ago when I gave a loop of it a try. Seemed to cut ok, but threw a lot of small chips, especially when first starting the cut in the bark.

I resorted to using it when encountering stumps/roots and very dirty wood. It would do a lot of grabbing at the wood if cutting small limbs, especially if the saw was not revved up good.

A strange tooth arrangement, and apparently didn't become very popular.

  it just couldnt hold up to the ash the mountain left in the wood after the big blow!! skip tooth was about the best to do the job......

You perhaps are refering to chain with a double set of side plates ? If so I have a loop of it and it proved to be not successful although it is interesting .

The only advantage it has is the fact it wil rip about as good as it cross cuts but it isn't the best at either in my opinion .

My Uncle tried it.......I guess he wasn't impressed since I only ever saw 1 loop of it.  :D
