I have a little more eastern red cedar to cut and realized that I will come no where near filling my kiln (Nyle).  I have several stacks of AD lumber laying around (southern red oak, pecan, sycamore, SY pine, and cherry).  All of this wood other than the cedar has been drying for at least a year, some much longer.  I have a moisture meter and can check it, but I am pretty sure that all of it is < 20% MC.  Would there be any problem with loading the kiln with this mixed bag and using a schedule for cedar to dry and then heat treat the whole batch?  Would there be a better schedule, or should I just not do this at all?

I sure would like to clean up a bunch of AD lumber piles.

I almost never put ERC in the kiln.  It will air dry down pretty quick.  If you put the other woods in the kiln and put the cedar on top it will dry in a few days.  Most of the time I do not even machine cedar if it is under 18%mc.  Getting it to hot kills the smell and makes crystals in the wood that are hard on knives and blades.

I may not put the rest of the cedar in.  I know that it does not shrink that much and I checked the moisture this evening and it was 18% right out of the log.  Sap wood was in the mid-20s.

If all of my wood is less than 20 - 25% can I just put it all in there together and use and aggressive schedulre followed by a heat treat?

If all the wood is under 25% you should be able to dry it all together.  I would use a less aggressive schedule.
