We call that a Persuader for lack of it's real name.

Crowbar / Spudbar? It'd be fairly easy to make actually.

pasbuild

If it can't be nailed or glued then screw it

WH_Conley

Burke bar. There is a company by the name of Burke that makes them, others might.

In Ontario a new tool was marketed about 30 years ago called a " wonder bar ". It was about the length of a small crow bar but it was made of flat steel and was a welcome addition for any carpenter because of its ability to slip into thin cracks. You appear to have its huge big brother. Stanley tools also still makes a trim version that fits easily into a tool pouch. Don't know if thats any help but I certainly enjoyed seeing the picture of yours. Thanks

I had a local welder make me up a long pry.  Only on mine, I asked for a heel to extend out of the back a few inches.  This allows me to pry up on the ends of logs to get them off the ground.  Sometimes I need to get a chain or whatever underneath and some logs are just too big for me to roll.  There are several other uses it has proved its worth on, too. ;)

There is no need to say 'unleaded regular gas'. It's all unleaded. Just say 'regular gas'. It's not the 70s anymore. (At least that's what my wife tells me.)

Could be a railroad crowbar for pulling spikes or manually adjusting alignment of sections of track. Seems awfully heavy for pulling shingles. What are you guys fastening shingles with? ;)

A lot of such tools walked out of rail road tool sheds.  ;)

Didn't they though,
A railway bar for spike pulling would have a bigger spot for lifting the spikes as they are very thick, about an 1" square.

I have one of those "Burke" bars but never knew the proper name.

And for those that guessed Johnson bar here is one of those.

Went to a machinery auction bout a month ago.  The bigger the machine the cheaper they went.  Bought a 2,000 pound sander that was in an awkward place to fetch with the forklift.  Pried up one end with the Johnson bar and got pipes under it.  Rolled it out to the middle of the building where the rigger could get his forks under it.  The Johnson bar was an instant hit...we lifted machines up to maybe 6,000 pounds with it and a few wedges.  I threatened to start renting it for $50/1/2 hour.  I bet the ancient Greeks did it the same way as they were quite smart. :D
