I didn't mean to put in lifting...but pulling/towing/winching is what I intended to say.

IMERC, I had a similar experience with a chinese keyhole router bit. Broke one, bought the same one again, broke it too. Didn't buy another one.

I just rebuilt a trailer with new suspension parts.  Every part of it (axles, brakes, hubs, springs) was marked made in china.  That worries me a little.  I don't know where to buy US made trailer parts.

On the 8th of December 2009 I put new hubs on my F350 four wheel drive $465.00 for the two they also was made in China. Coming back from Florida this week the right front stated squealing. I jacked it up and the wheel flopped back and fourth. I pulled it off and took it back to the dealer and he told me they would probably give my money back on the one sence it only had 8800 miles on it. Packing wheel bearings was a lot easyer. I also had to get two pins for my back brake chamber, the box was made in the U.S.A. but the part was made in China. Pretty sad to think we can;t make anything for our selves any more. O thats right we made the cardboard box ! :(

If you buy the better quality lifting slings, they have a colored thread that runs the entire length of the sling and that will change color if the rated capacity of the sling has been exceeded, but they are not cheap.

I agree with you on buying the older chains at auctions. You can get some real beefy chains for a darn good price that are made about twice as well as any new chain you can buy at lowes or home depot.
