I am curious to know what those of you who use Woodmizer's resharp program are paying in shipping for a box of 10 blades.  We sent our first box of 10 in a week or so ago and shipping seemed really expensive.  Thank you for your input.  Caveman

How much was the total to get 10 blades sharpened?

caveman

We had a coupon to get 10 sharpened for free.  Also, they sent the blades back to us in a different box than the one we sent them in.  We sent in a flat box and they sent back a cube.  Caveman

I'm having 10 blades shipped next week.  I  will report when I find out. .   In the future I will be taking my box of dull blades to the UPS store.  Shipping should be the same price both ways.  I could be wrong.  It will not be the first time. LOL

For a 10 blade-per-week sawyer: Has cost of shipping been a major factor for those  whom have bought blade sharpeners?

well yeah!
try just the charges for sharpening.
$70 for sharpening 10 blades.
if that was every week a $2500 sharpener  would pay for itself in about a year. not only that  but you can sucessfully sharpen blades damaged by hitting metal and marginally worn blades that many sharpening services wont resharpen.

I did the math before I bought my Cat Claw sharpener!

As I figured it, when I sharpen my 350th blade, my sharpener which cost $2455.00 won't owe me a cent!

That was figuring just the sharpening, not the shipping.

The answer to your question seemed very simple until I pulled invoices.  I always have at least one reject which is replaced, at a discount, with a new band.  The cost ranges from $114  to $117, replacing one band, and depending upon if the box is reused and replacement spacers are needed.  Total shipping, both ways, is in the $30 range.  Considering a 25# box, this is reasonable to me.

Return shipping in a cube box is normal.

If the box is worn to where there maybe be a shipping issue then the box is replaced. Blades fall into a different catagory with shipping companys because of the risk of injury. If you get a new box it is because the old one has issues. If you want the new box to be a flat pack you can request it that way.
