Here's our firewood pile, Elk camp '03, and it wasn't enough.  There's a story surrounding the rifle, it's bent, but what happens at Elk camp, stays at Elk camp. :D

And a couple days latter here's Rob(VP of logging operations and Navigator) throwing some kindling on the fire.  This fire goes for 2 weeks.  I fell this pi$$ fir and was real happy as it had quite a sweep to it, but went right were I planned with about a dozen people watching (2 tree lengths away at least),  my buddies laughed when I got the plumb bob out but it really helps me, and they were real happy I put it parellel to the road and we could back right to it.  BWW

All truth passes through three stages:
   First, it is ridiculed;
   Second, it is violently opposed; and
   Third, it is accepted as self-evident.

I was afraid someone would ask that.  Here in WA for modern firearms it's spike only, now that is maybe only 5% of the herd.  And then there's location, we hunt an area that has a small local herd on purpose, there are no hunters.  So this is a long explaination to say we got skunked, but had a heck of a good time.  As far as hunting firewood, the farthest we got from camp gather wood was about 200 yards, alot of dead standing in this area.  Now this ground is every US taxpayers land and it will never be logged again because some biologist who probably never even seen a spotted owl says they need 160 acres per breeding pair.   Me and my buddies have taken the philithropic endevour to maintain timber stand health.  We can prove this as an early archery camp about a mile away let thier fire get away and it burnt about five acres before control,  that don't happen at our camp.  Rob got a spike about 7 years ago.  BWW

Whatcha gotta do jump out of tree like Rambo if you want to kill one any bigger than a spike ??? ??? ;) ;D ;D  Doesn't seem fair you'd think they'd allow a couple permits for modern firearms ::).

Archery season you can shoot a cow, but it's so hot we're still fightin' fire most years, muzzleloader season is closed in our area.  Permits are available to the south, I got a cow down in the Yakima area 4(?) years ago.  I may put in for a big bull permit this year, but they only let out a couple in our GMU, and we ain't moving camp again! (that's another story)  BWW

All I can say about the rifle in the 1st pic, is it involved an ATV and a steep hill.  Hope it was repairable, as it was a loaner, but this was a newbie to our camp and we're not real sure if we going to invite him back!  He likes the same kind of music as my 14 year old, and I don't!  BWW

Just to show ya our freezer ain't empty.  '03 was my eldest first year and he drew a youth doe tag, filled on the second day.  I have a picture of me, about the same age, maybe a year or to younger, same rifle, with in sight of this location.  Good eatin' critter, right on the edge of an alafa field.  BWW
