is it possible to cut a log longer than 21ft if your mill setup for 21ft without bed ext.??

Shure, I have cut 30 ft 12X12 on mine. It's a lot easier if you have hydraulics with the toe rollers, but do-able on a manual mill. Also helps   a bunch to have a couple of big brawny red-neck helpers. Just let the extra length hang off the back of the mill, saw down the log as far as you can (21 feet), then cut the slab off with a chainsaw. Roll the log and repeat 3 more times. Then slide the log (cant ?) back toward the front of the mill and finish cutting..Fairly easy if you have the toe rollers, if not, that's where you need the helpers....

Dont have rolling toeboards but have used toeboards to lift log and put a board and small pieces of pipe under just to get log equalized on bed of mill

Here is a link to a topic I put out on the Knowledge Base showing how we saw logs longer than our LT40.

I think a lot of folks that have done this use some of the same methods.

I was just about to do that for Bolie. But just in case you don't know how to get there, click onto to Extras, just about straight above this,it's the same line that Home,Help,Search is,a drop list will come up,click onto to Knowledge Base, This will open up into another window, scroll down until you find Millings-Bandmills,click onto to that scroll down again until you find Sawings logs longer than the mill, click onto to that and you will find the above link. I just want you and others to know where to find it. Lots of info in the Extras.
