Catfish & Family

Had a wonderful day today. Hauled a dozen logs to the mill for a neighbor this morning. Cleaned up around the shop & started burning scrap wood in the fire pit. The fire pit is set up for cooking. Both my kids were home from college this weekend & my nephew was here, and of course my lovely wife. I thought this would be a great time to catch a few of those cat fish & fry em up. So we got some poles in the pond, made beer batter & got the cast iron pot & put it on the fire. We deep fryed some mushrooms & cauliflower for appetisers & caught 3 cats in no time at all & deep fryed them. Of course we wern't quite full so we cooked a couple rib eye steaks. Surf & Turf NY style.

Mmmmmmmm fried catfish. That sounds like not only a wonderful meal but a fun evening!  Next time fix a pot of grits and some hushpuppies to go along with those catfish.  Fried fish and grits are a marriage made in heaven.  8)

That's the way to spend Sunday!  My wife and I wanted to go fishing in the worst way yesterday but do to a million other things couldn't even slip away for a few hours, glad to hear someone did and enjoyed it as much as we would've.

Sounds like a great day for sure. I haven't had catfish since I was a kid in TX (parents moved there for work). That stuff is so good if done right.

Another faorite of mine was bluegill also fried up in a batter.
