What does the Lite designation mean on this saw?  Is there a difference between the Lite and the regular 288XP?

Thanks

I have an older (2000) Husky catalog and it only lists the 288xp lite. So to answer your question I don't know if all 288 xp's are lite or not. Maybe the non xp model in with the 288 designation is different. Could be maybe Dan Henry or someone else here might have the answer you seek. Otherwise how is the 394xp working for you? Yea I know its a little heavy but it sure is a cuttin' bastard.       gary

Hey Gary

I haven't had a chance to use the 394 yet, but I'm gonna take it out tomorrow and give it a whirl.  I got so many things goin' on, I just hafta put sumthin else on hold.

I have a 288 XP Lite first year made. I ask the dealer the difference. They used to have a spring located on front bottom of saw. He said they took that off and made it 2 ounces lighter. I never did know what the spring was for.

If it's like the older Huskies, the bottom spring was an AV.
