There are other videos of this sawmill on youtube but this is a brand new one I just found out about. It is a nice documentary... bout half an hour.

Alan
J. A. Vance circular sawmill, 52" blade, powered by a 70 HP 9 1/2 x 10 James Leffel portable steam engine.

Inside this tired old mans body is just a little boy that wants to go out and play.

Great minds think alike.....  Does your butt itch too?

I couldn't stop watching it. A fascinating combination of modern harvesting and vintage processing. Where is the mill? If it said, I missed it. Thanks for posting.

Great video, I watched all of it while I had my first cup of coffee this morning. Thanks for posting, very interesting. Makes one realize that performing maintenance while operating a WM mill and Edger compared to that operation is a minor task.

Makes me want to go start up my mill and cut some lumber.  Nice to see there are some family traditions that are still going strong.  Neat video.  Thanks for posting it.

That qualifies as Mechanical Engineer porn - all the belts, pulleys, cams, gears, boilers, blades!  And kudos to the employees - everyone that I noticed had all of their digits intact.  Carefully applied skill beats OSHA!

This operation will last as long as they have a machinist in the family.  Steamsawyer, if your butt still itches, talk to your doctor.  You would be surprised what advances have been made in medicine.  Regards, Clark
