It's finally been drying out around here.  I've been collecting logs and telephone pole (saw shed).  I'm starting to feel more confident with my mill.  I've been peeling my logs as it seems to help keep the blades sharp for a longer time. The state has a lot of tamarack cut along side the road. I picked up a permit to use these logs that will just lay there and rot. They were cut this past winter. Plan on making an A-frame roof over my saw. Like others have said, "a mill is a lot of hard work" but I've been having a blast!  Think I lost a few pounds to boot!  This forum has been a terrific resource. I enjoy checking in every morning with my coffee.  Thanks again!

very nice setup for the mill.  I need to get a shed over mine so I can lose the tarp.  the only thing missing is a pile of sawdust.

Thanks Downstream.  I'm finding it helps to have a lot of space around the mill.  Seems I'm always moving something to another spot with the tractor.  I've been throwing the sawdust on my burn pile as the black ants started to move in.  The contractors setting the new telephone poles punched 4 holes for me last evening.  They evening helped me set them....best $100 I've spent in quite awhile. 8)
