G is for heated grips, on a saw of that age I'd check to see if they work. I've never had a heated one, it seems like when they quit working guys don't fix them because it's too much $$$
Too many irons in the fire

I run a 394xp as a processer saw .  I am mostly happy with it . They are heavy .
A bunch of chainsaws a BT6870 processer , TC 5 International track skidder and not near enough time

Unless you know its service history I'd replace the crank seals, all fuel lines and fuel filter etc......along with a complete carb rebuild on a saw this old.

Otherwise you risk running it lean and trashing you P&C.

I know a lot of loggers who ran pro saws with heated grips.....mostly Jonsereds. Leaving the switch on HI could cause the switch to melt. Anyway, they all said the system quit working at some point and they just left it. A lot of firewood cutters and homeowners though really liked the heated handles.

The 394 was a great pro saw, being replaced by the 395. Parts are scarce though, but the stock 394 will outrun a stock 395. The 394 and the 3120 replaced the 2100/2101.

I had a G model, husky. I could not leave the switch on steady, those got warm.
The problem I had, was hooking up chains. All was fine until I got my hands wet. Snow would get in the links of the chains and than I would get my hands wet from the snow. Only had a tractor with a 3 3 pt winch. I use to warm my hands on the exhaust of the tractor.  ;D
Now that I live here, I just swap gloves when my hands get wet.
Yes, they do not work now either. But saw is 14 years old now too.
