Will be interesting to see if the plastic sleeves work. So wet around here. I'd wonder if they'd still rot because of the moisture trapped inside. Gotta keep them above ground with metal here even with the ground contact treated if you really want them to last. The newer environment friendly treatment isn't near as good as it used to be. I've thought about roofing tar to seal, old farmer said it helps but they still rot

Nealm66,
The posts have dried 3 years.  Then they were coated with 3 coats of copper naphthenate/diesel then put in the sleeves and sealed with silicone.  If they do rot, I don't think I will be around to see it.
I am high on a clay hill with sand down near the gully, so no standing water near the posts.

I pounded in 6 stakes last week.  4 corners for the main body and 2 for a shed.  Next day I was too sore in the shoulders to do anything.
So, I thought how can I put in batter board stakes without killing my shoulders and arms swinging an 8 pound sledge hammer.
So I slept on it and ordered a 1.5 inch auger bit from Amazon for planting garden stuff.
I just planted nine split 2x4 stakes with almost no heavy swinging with this gizmo.............

Here are the batter boards installed.  The stake between the excavator and batter boards will be a steel post for the shed where the sawmill will roost.

My Grand daughter will stay with me next week.  I was planning on her helping me square it up with string lines.  But Hurricane Beryl is headed this way and at least Monday-Wednesday will be wet.  After that, the clay will need to sun dry a little to walk on it.

I finally got my Grand daughter over to help square up the batter board strings.  We got it within 1.5 inches of square for 30x80 feet before I called quitting time.  Quitting time is when my T shirt is completely wet.  She enjoyed helping and I enjoyed it too.  She can't wait to help more on the build.  Paying her helps that incentive. She will be 11 tomorrow.  I think we are going to an escape room.

I'll confess to not reading all 7 pages of this.  I should have so please excuse my jumping in late.  Did you consider prefab metal trusses in your planning?  If so, what made factors made you choose what you did?

Here's an example of what I'm talking about.

Regardless of what you used, I'll watch with interest as I also need a sawmill shed.  The wide opening would be ideal for the mill, logs and long length lumber so your project looks ideal.

I get SYP for free, just go pick them up and they load them.  My sawmill will only cut wood.  Thus a wooden sawmill shed.
