I just registered but am familiar with the forum, one of the few that have remained through the years. Having found myself, after a significant relocation, literally in unfamiliar territory I have plugged in with the idea of rebuilding my immaterial capital since that is for the most part left behind, i.e. familiar wood species, material sources, common, and yet traditional and regional building and woodworking techniques, the handeling and storage of wood in this new ( dry) climate and so on and so on...  My new-found place is on the western slope of the Rockies in Western Colorado. My outlook is restoration of a ranch property dating from settler times yet still in a livable condition, (for the most part). My formal background is furniture making but I spent more time lately on building and maintainance of an old house, barn and property...Well, I have to say it that a passion is doing as much work as possible to keep an array of axes in condition and working on wood.
Hjartum yxa, nothing less than breitbeil/bandhacke combo.
