About a month ago my wife and I headed to middle tn for a week of relaxation.  We spent the winter there a few years ago and try to visit a few times a year.  We have hiked to the top of Burgess falls a number of times but the only way to get to the bottom is to put kayak in a Cane Hallow launch and paddle few miles up to the base.  We took the kayaks this trip to cross another item from our list.  Easy paddle for a couple of miles the you begin to hear the falls around the last bend.  Amazing view from the bottom plus you can swim and lounge at the base.  Here is a photo of the wife celebrating.

No shooting these falls since they are over 100 ft talk and then hit the rocks.  Interesting thing we found out about this area is that it is a whitewater kayaker paradise.  A bunch of great gorges where you can run some crazy rapids and waterfalls .  I almost went to work for Jackson Kayak located in Sparta.  The HR Manager there ran an employee whitewater class to teach new people how to do it right.  Too bad we could not get to the right number.  If you search YouTube for the founder or son they drop over some crazy waterfalls all over the world.

That falls is nice, worth celebrating. ;D Only big falls in these parts is Grand Falls, but that is dammed for electric. Was watching a fellow with a small canoe recently coming down a couple Yukon rivers. A solo trip, very remote. It was July and some spots he had frost on his equipment in the morning. Ran down through some rugged mountains, an 11 day trip. Had to portage some rough places, like class 5 rapids or worse. Most mountains are treeless up there, some trees up lower slopes, but 80 % of the height is bare. Had some good grayling fishing and panned a gold nugget from a small boxed canyon creek for kicks. He was tickled finding that, made his trip. :)
