This was my 3rd year attempting to graft good, edible apple scions to my countless wild apple trees, few of which provide tasty apples. First year netted zero success. Last year a few good ones and this year a few more. Sharing my experience here and wondering what others have for experieince grafting. What I don't know (yet) is how to prune them properly once they are big enough. Any tips on this would be appreciated also.

Thanks for the video. It's something I tried once years ago without success. Like your situation, there are all kinds of wild apples around here, besides being an old orchard here back then. Wished I could have grafted Sharp's 'New Brunswicker' apple, we had 2 old trees at the time. Sharp had a large orchard south of here in the late 1800's.

I've seen balsam fir grafted before at the provincial seed centre. I don't recall the purpose because they grow like weeds around here. ;D
