I'm air drying a small amount of shortleaf pine wedge siding. 7" wide boards, 5/16-7/8 taper. Question is will I likely get best results from pairing them [2 pieces stacked atop each other per layer] or one piece between each layer of stickers?

The logs are pretty decent in terms of ring spacing, not fast grown or other obvious issues. We're in a spell of good drying weather, the stack will be in the shade but with decent air movement.

Thanks in advance.

Just sticker them as if they were just reguar boards. Have a thick side toward the outside of the stack so the stickers will be fully supported.

Mating two together face to face will cause uneven drying and warping plus you'll probably get mold on the mating faces.

Tapered siding dries pretty fast.  There will be a few pieces that twist or crook, but most will be fine.

Completely agree - sticker it like it's lumber, it will dry just fine and stay flat.  I have even run some through the kiln with poor expectations but it turned out great.

Okay then, that's how it will be stickered.

I'm looking forward to installing this stuff, it's on my own house. Back in the day I installed quite a bit of wood siding and this pattern was always my fave both for the ease of install and the final appearance.

Thanks again for the experienced advice.
