Clark 28000 brakes

Curious if there is a trick to get the thick end plate steel disc lined up in the grooves for the brakes. To lift the brake housing and keep the steel disc positioned is a PITA! 

The 6 small spring and rods prevent it from being set in first so it needs to be drawn in with the brake housing bolts it seems

It is a pain. I have chanfered the edges to make the plate line up easier.  Pulling it in with bolts never worked for me.  You got be ready with a couple of bolts when it finally lines up. Hold the housing while you start some bolts. At that point you will pull it in against the springs. I hope I described good .

I assume you are talking about the transmission brake?

Page 12 talks about using guide pins in the upper corner bolt holes.  The pictures are bad so its hard to tell what is going on.  

If you can find some bolts long enough to extend all the way through the housing and cut the heads off, you can use them as screw in guide pins.

Yes,  the brake that pto shaft comes through. Much more difficult in the frame sometimes need two people because once it cogs it not all the way down but you must hold there until you get a couple bolts started.

So the guide pin thing never worked for me . Got to move the plate around to line up with the housing until it falls then the bolts go in . Then by going around slightly tightening each bolt you can pull it in against the return springs tension.
