Just looking for suggestions where to buy parts such as bars and chains. The cost of most of what I am seeing for genuine parts near me makes it tempting to just get a new saw.
Why is there never time to do it right but always time to do it over?

Lots of companies sell bars and chains and a lot of people are perfectly happy with aftermarket for those.  Stick with a known brand and you should be fine  as long as you match the bar mount and sprocket.

Stihl somehow manages to control pricing on their products very tightly so I don't think there are many, or any places that sell Stihl products at less than list.  I hope I'm wrong but when I've check on an item price at several places, it's always within pennies of each other.  One exception- I needed another saw to take with me for cleanup after hurricane Michael in Panama City and the dealer did cut me some slack on that purchase.  I appreciated it and went back to him for supplies later even though it isn't my closest dealer.

Normally on actual OEM parts you won't get any deals that are  less expensive than from a dealer .On things like bars etc. many make those which depending could be less expensive .In my own life I've used after rmarket parts on things like pistons ,rings etc. with pretty good luck .
