Bad Belt or No

Timberking 2000, After changing the belt on the drive and idle side with Continental number 85590, which is what Timberking recommeded I noticed slack in the belt on the idle side. And the blade started running to the outside throwing the blade into the metal. Anyone had this happen as I figure it is a cause of a bad belt?
