They are out in bloom.
We went to Rangely Maine to enjoy them. The state redid the road years ago and they threw in some lupine seeds when they seeded the banks.
Then we went up to saddleback, a ski resort. The lupines were out on that road too, both sides of the road. There were more lupines on that road then on rt 4.
We do this each year.
It's about 1 1/2 hours from my house.

They have been out early here since the first week of June. Usually see them were old farm houses once stood. I see one fella picking an armload in a ditch one day. He must have been trying to make up for his bad deeds with the wife.  ffcheesy ffcheesy

There is an old forestry air strip out in the middle of nowhere and along the edges of the road in and edges of that old air strip were lupines were seeded.  Lots of really old fishing camps out there on the river and some of the lakes. Pratt and Whitney had a camp in there on Holmes Lake, I've been to it years ago. They would fly in and land on the lake at first, but once logging roads went in there the air strip was made for fires and budworm spraying. Lots of big lakes in there, but they are probably too shallow for water bombers. And if you want extra rock, places in there it's all rock otherwise just glacial sand. Jack pine, white pine and black spruce mostly.

It was also a camp for the Grenville Baker Boys Club out of New York. Renamed Grenville Baker Boys and Girls Club.
