Like most saws that come out , the first run are the fastest and best then the saw factory slows the saws down , most times by the coil to limit the saws rpms , the 7900 is a good strong saw , biggest weak point was the rewind then the off/on switch but for the power this saw made to weight was very good , very close if not stronger than the husky 385 and thats no lie , owned a lot of them and still do , ported a ton of these saws that got shipped all over the world , built some for dolmar that were used in Africa by their race team , piped , ported but ran on gas , I wished they still were being made cause I would be running them in the bush

Years ago I had three  Dolmar, Makita saws two six thousand series and one 7900. Bought them new on the internet for cheap. Great saws and the two guys that helped me cut wood loved them. One recoil on one and probably at least two on off switches on all three. Then parts got hard to get even air filters. I sold two and gave the newest six thousand series to one of the guys that helps me out on the farm. He still uses it around his acreage for clean up. He doesn't burn wood. Went all Stihl after that.

The local Jonsered dealership brought Dolmars in when I was still hand cutting. Tried to like them. They cut nice, balanced well. Nice saws. I had couple 7900s and 7300s? The mounts were weak. Every logger who tried them had the same issue. Replacing mounts was a constant. I went back to 2172s.

A surly bookkeeper cured me of Sachs Dolmar 20 plus years ago. Picked up a new brush saw, signed for it and the next day was read the riot act by someone else in the food chain. Completely out of the blue as we had an account with the dealer and had paid promptly.

I've got two Dolmar designed Makita concrete saws I bought cheap .I think they might have been rental units and required some parts .For their size they do just fine ,73 CC's I think .
My neighbor is a Dolmar fan and was quite proud of his Dolmar of I think was 54 cc's until I walked from it using a 40 year old Partner of 49 cc's .Not saying there was anything wrong with his saw mine was just faster plus I'm a tad better than he on tuning one .
