Have any of you noticed that you are put in a member group by the number of posts? Some of you have obtained the full member status of 50 posts. You all know what level 200 is, 3 of us have admin level, and one of us is in the self inflicted GPITA group.

There is actually a "forum god" level, but m0st of us will see the real thing first.::)

Speaking of Admin level, Do you know, anyone of you that wish to be a moderator of a certain category (or new category if you think we need one) can request that? Click on help near the top of the forum to learn the responsibilities and duties of a mod.

Just tryin to teach myself some posting basics! I've just got to try this. Yes I know this has nothing to do with Forestry. But have you ever seen a tractor drive sideways?

If this works I will be amazed.
It only took twelve tries more or less. You better watch out now I'm like a kid in a candystore. Amazing when you take the time to actually read the instructions. Always wondered why Jeff put them up there.

Anybody else want a class on posting basics, I'm not the one to teach it. But might be able to steer you in the right direction, north I think.:D

well yeah, I'd take the class- and I have driven a tractor sideways. But did I ever tel you how my ex-husband gave me brain damage by fixing up my tractor so it steered backwards?

Oh hey, jeff, also stuck flags on 'behind the forum'. Must be something in the air tonight.  LW :D

Jeff

Are there any foresters on the board out there that need to have thier member status set to "Forester"?  I think there are...

Also, if any of you would like to join L. Wakefield as a member of the exclusive GPITA group, just let me know.

I wouldn't dream of horning in, and wresting away the exclusivity of the title, "GPITA."  However, it has not gone unnoticed that I seem to have become the semi-unofficial FORESTRYFORUM CUSSWORD !

DanG it, that oughta be worth a hat, or sumpthin !

That and 56 more DanG posts :D.
I was kinda holding out for a more royal title myself ::)

Ok, so how many posts does it take to be "forum god".  And will you or Tom get there first?

Don,
A P.I.T.A. is someone who is disagreeable or hard to get along with.  There is a "general" variety and a higher variety referred to as a "royal".

Jeff

The p stands for pain, from that you should be able to figure it out. :D

The God level is not that high, 500 posts. I think. hang on let me check. Yup, 500, unless I change it. ;D

I don't think I will allow it to say "Forum God" Its just that no one was even close before, so I never thought about it. Well, now some of you are getting close, so what's a suggested name for that level of membership?

Administrators have no level, never noticed that before, heck Tom and I should have been Gods a long time ago.

Was that thunder?

I think anything that gives a person some form of recognition for their experiences would give their post whether initial or as a responce to someone else's post some validity. This months question as to why your visiting the Forum is a perfect example !!  Some people would have checked several categories, had that been an option.  They all somewhat tie together but I guess it was to see what a persons main interest for stopping in was  Lots of people just have one question they want help with and they are the ones that feel that they must join, ask their question in the form of a post, get their answer,  and are never heard from again until they have another question.  Categories other than administrator or forester might be sawyer, woodlot owner, farmer, sportsman, enviornmentalist, arborist, scientist, woodworker,- ,- ,-, etc.--I know the profile section gives someone an opportunity of expression and  nobody asked but that's my two cents worth.

Thats how L. Wakefield got her group. She asked. If someone wants to have a special catagory that is possible.

The reason for labeling a forester on this board as a forester is obvious. Any other labels are possible, but I want to make sure if we do that that its for the right reason. And the right reason would be that it helps identify that member for a purpose. In L's case she felt it was important for people to know she was a general pain in the ass. She became our only resident pain in the ass when we were just getting started, so any further additions would have to be up to her cause she has passed general and reached royal simply because of seniority.

I can see tags as sawyers and landowners and such as being useful, but as you even stated, we might be more then that, so any tag might end up being to exclusive. Don't know. Good point though B M.

I really do believe that we are all in a group of our own. ;D ;)

Seriously some of the members would really overlap just one title. Some of the posters here that are running a mill have the experiece of a forester. Some of the foresters have the experience to run mills. You get the general idea. So some titles would be to restrictive I guess. But a forester title would be a good idea, something to be proud of no doubt.

Some people you really couldn't put a title on at all. Take me for instance, no real title for me. :)  So just give me another tree every now and again and that is just fine with me. Yea thats the ticket with 500 posts you should get another tree. 8)

Speaking on that note I"ve got to update my signature to four and one half childern. The Mrs is half way done with the bun she has cooking in the oven. ;)

Congrats on the new kid, Gordon. Y'all gonna hafta figger out what's causing this. It could get outta hand. ;)

Speakin' of outta hand, just learned, yesterday, that we have a new G-baby on the way. That'll be number 12, unless she hatches off a double, like last time. 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)

Gordon, is there still a chance for 4? The Forestry Forum Quads. Can we name them please? We promise not even to consider using the names "DanG" or whats that other one, um, oh yea. "Kevin"

Thanks for the congrats, so far so good. This is the last addition to the tribe. For a week or two the doc thought that she might be carrying twins and an ultra sound proved that wrong only one---thank goodness---. Two at one time would be a chore.

As far as the naming goes----I can talk the MRS into alot but I don't think I could get her to buy into the forum naming the baby, unless we can't decide then maybe she might and I say just might let you give it a go. Now that I've thought about it for three seconds I've changed my mind and the answer is NOT.

I'm not going to change the signature just yet don't want to jinx anything.

Opps this is member groups, uh yea some member groups would be good, then again, awe never mind.
