DKR

I've been reading this forum for many months, but this is my first post.  I like the tone y'all take with one another.   Supportive, inquisitive, etc.

About 2 years ago I decided I wanted to build a timberframe house.  I've got a little DIY carpentry experience, but that's it.  So to begin I did an 8 week apprenticeship last summer in NC.  Learned a lot, and really liked the folks.  Since then, I've been buying tools, building timber carts (like Jim's carts), building saw ponies, and finding a source for timbers.  Took an autocad course at the local community college so I could layout my projects.

I found Arkansawyer on this forum, and bought some yellow pine and oak timbers from him 2 months ago.  Since then, I've been doing layout and cutting joints in my garage.  Below you will see my first real project.  I'm building two of these to put in an old barn (in Arkansas) with a sagging roof, to support a new ridge beam.   I'll keep you posted on my progress.   I'm just now learning how to post a picture, so bear with me . . .  I can't figure out how to make it bigger.

Welcome DKR
You will be a good addition ta this crowd, I expect.

Fer da pics, follow the Help button ( re-size 'em first to get the longest side under 450 pixels) then see what file size you end up with. Often resizing is enough to get under the 35k file size limit.
The pic you posted has a pixel size of 100 on the long side. Hope this helps.
