Morning all. On the hunt for a mid size skid steer and a 442 has come along that I can JUST squeeze into the imaginary budget. Any comments from prev owners of this or similiar models etc?

Kubota diesel, 4000hrs includes 4:1 bucket

thanks

Hate to see that 0 in replys, so my only experience is with a Case.  I have a neighbor who buys used skidsteers, fixes up the oil leaks, and repaints and resells them.  He told me before I bought one that the best skidsteer is a Case.  So I got a 60XT when they were closing out the old models.  They had a thousand dollars off and either free financing or another thousand off.  I bought a new one cheaper than used ones were selling for on ebay.  Jim

thanks for getting that "0" off the screen. Went and had a look yestersday. It is a trade in @ Bobcat. As traded what you see is what you get. In all not a bad machine. drives OK and it all works. Need to decide today.

I don't know anything about the mustang machines, the kubota diesels are supposed to be pretty tough engines. I like the old Case 1845, before they went to the XT series.  They are just bullet proof. They have a 3.9 cummins engine (same as the 5.9 cummins you see in dodge pick ups minus 2 cylinders) around 60 horsepower. I have one myself that I've put about 1000 hours on (It has 1600 on it now) In that time I have changed a belt and 1 hydrualic line, and regular maintenence. We have different machines where I work, a case 90xt and a cat 287. Those machines get more done but they spend a lot of time in the shop too. These new 80-100hp skidsteers just tear themselves apart as far as I'm concerned.

bought it.....picked it up last night in the pouring rain. Had a full day today so only managed to make a mess of the drive then clean it up. So far so good.

Good looking machine  8)  Skidsteers can really make a mess  ;) ;D  The nice thing about them is it's easy to clean up the mess when the main job is done.  My Dad has a love hate relationship with my 753 Bobcat.  He loves its manuverablity but hates what it does in the process.  They're not turf machines  ;) ;D  It's easy to blade out the ruts in dirt but sod doesn't go back in place very well  ;) :)
