I was looking at the remains of a pecan today and noticed that the crotches hard bark inclusions all the way through them. Is this common in pecan or did i have a bad tree?

Some I cut did not have inclusions.

I've seen it either way on all types of trees.  You think you're gonna get a nice crotch then you get into it and find it's not fully grown together or has a lot of inclusions.  Kind of a let down sometimes.  The crotches I've found to be good are the ones you have trouble seeing until you open the log.

If your crotch is a "V" with spurious bark patterns, there is a higher chance of getting bark inclusions.  But if a smooth barked "U" crotch is milled, the chances are you'll strike it lucky.
