Does anyone have a Windows program that will automatically resize a whole bunch of photos at once (ie. give it a directory of pics and it'll resize them all)?  I have a bunch of pics of the cabinetry install I want to post but resizing them all by hand, one by one, is *really* tedious.

Thanks!

Tom

Photoshop and Photoshop Elements both will do it.

Are you running XP or Vista? XP has a wonderful and easy add-on that blows away any other program for ease and simplicity. Do a Google search for Windows XP Powertoys image resizer, it will be the first result. It's a free download from Microsoft.

When I got my latest computer with Vista, I was sorely disappointed that this program was not compatible. I spent a week searching for an alternative and found one that is almost as good as the XP Powertoys version. It's called VSO Image Resizer and is a free download. Again, just Google search VSO Image Resizer and it will be the first result.

I may be buying a laptop computer later this year, and I will gladly pay extra to get it with XP instead of Vista. One of my first downloads will be the Powertoys image resizer.

If you have a digital camera, the software that came with it may have a batch image  resizer. My Fuji and Pentax camera software both have this option.

I've been meaning to post this for quite some time but never got around to it.  Resizing always seemed to be an extra burden that I didn't always go through - it kept me from posting images because I was just too lazy to take the steps.  Recently I found and started using a super simple resizing tool called photoresize.

What makes this program so cool is that there is no need to open a program and open your images, etc. etc.  The program is a single executable file.  I keep the file in a folder specifically for pictures to email, load to FF, or load onto my solar kiln site.  The program file is titled photoresize450.exe  But you can rename the file to whatever pixel size you want such as photoresize600.exe.  Then you drag and drop the photo files you want resized onto the photoresize file and it automatically resizes and renames them.  You get a popup dos window while it resizes and you simply hit "enter" when its done.  Now in your folder you will have the original photo files, and your new resized and renamed photo files.  It just adds the new pixel size to the original file name to get the new file name

For my pictures that start off at just over 1mb, the resize almost always takes them down to below the 35k limit here.  If it doesn't, you can rename the photoresize file to also resize the file size not just the pixel count.  The details can be found at http://www.rw-designer.com/picture-resize.

I have found that there is an upper limit to how many it will do at one time.  Usually I try to drop no more than 10 files onto the photoresize file at one time.  I was going to upload a copy of the resize file, but it's an exe file so FF won't allow it.  Just go to the website listed above, download the file and rename it for the FF max size of 450 pixels.  Hope it helps.

I use a program called irfanview, it's available from download.com

The Windows XP Powertoys resizer adds the resize command to your mouse right click menu. Just right click on the file (or files) and then click 'resize'. No need to open any other programs or move any files to different locations, just right click and 'resize'. Way easier than irfanview, photoshop or any of those other downloadable programs. You guys are overcomplicating it.

I made an atempt to download the powertoys resizer, but it doesn't show up, nor does it work on "right click" menu.

Have XP too.  ??? ???

The one hokiemill mentioned looks good too. Might try it.

Hey beenthere, you ever get the PowerToy utility to work?  There might be a basic PowerToys program you have to install first, before the resizer tool will work.  It is really handy once it is working.  Just right click on a photo (or group of photos) and the resize option is in the menu.
