I just got back from my walk in the woods and went over to check my cut I had done last year. I thought as dry as it's been everything would be dead. The new popple growth was unreal. It's was cut last year at the end of jun and some of the new stuff is already six foot tall. It just amazed me how fast it came up. A couple more years and I'll need a GPS to find my way out. Now if my fruit trees would grow as good as this cut did............marty :o :o :o

That's how it grows by me,  Marty.  A bit over ten years ago,  there was an 80-acre clear-cut on state land across the road from me.  You could cut pulp in there today,  hundreds of cords.  Right now I'm cutting Cedar at a place my pop and I cut over about 15 years ago.  The Cedar is average 12 inch at the butt.  When we left 15 years ago,  we were walking on them.  People don't usually belive me when I tell them this......until they see it.  Personally,  I think it's due to the extremely heavy snow cover which prevents the wildlife from feeding on them in the winter.  The deer move further south,  you can't find a track anyplace on my land when the real winter sets in.  No bunnies either.  Just an occasional Moose track,  mice and weasels.
Where the heck is my axe???
