How do you get rid of Armadillo's

Not for me.  I shoot them.

My friend, has armadillos getting in his wife's flowerbeds.  She is not happy.  Now my friend isn't either.  I told him I would loan him a gun.  The wife doesn't want to kill them (yet).  For our yankee friends an armadillo is not unlike a small wild hog.  They will root up your yard looking for worms and bugs.

Is there a surefire way to trap them? 

I found a few websites saying to use a live trap with fencelike guides and such.  Baited with worms.

Any experience or pointers about trapping?

We tried that already.

They thought it tasted like feral swine.  Didn't like the shell.

Most would say wild hogs (feral swine) are worse than armadillos.

Catch the piglets and corn feed them up to about 75 or 80 lbs...not too bad, but a little strong...

Zopi, I have had some corn fed wild hog.  I like it.

I meant wild hogs are worse about causing damage to areas, they don't just root around like an armadillo.
Wildhogs excavate by the acre.  And compete with deer and turkey for mast.   

I'll take a few armadillos in the yard anyday over a wildhog.  I want my wildhog on the barbeque.

Here we have the same problem with Skunks and moles.
What we have found is they are going after grubs mostly, if we change the Ph of the soil with lime it seems to help. I also have been known to treat the yard with grub killer to.
Gets rid of the grubs so the other digging critters move to a better buffet.

Don't know if this will work with armadillo's, but it would be easier than starting a commuter service with a live trap.

The feral hogs work on a larger scale than the armadillos!
The armadillos and skunks are about the same, as far as the turf is concerned!
The armadillos probably eat the flower bulbs too, not just the grubs.  ;)

I skunk-proofed my wifes tulip bulbs by digging a small hole deep enough to plant the bulbs and then I rolled up the sod, just below the roots and laid down some "chicken wire" then laid the sod on top of the wire!

REASONING:  The flowers will come up through the holes in the chicken wire, but the skunk can't dig through it!  ;D
  Seems like this should work with armadillos too.  Might have to use heavier wire though, they have pretty good diggers!

I loaned him a .22 rifle and he called me all excited last night.  He killed his first armadillo.

See if he will hang a motion detector lite. It might not scare them off but it will let him know when he has something to shoot at.

They really do taste a lot like pork on the grill. During the depression they were nick named Hoover hogs.

I've caught many of them.  Live traps.  Forget the bait.  Place the trap next to the house, a fence, or something.  Use boards, etc. to create a wing that will funnel it to the trap.  May take weeks.  After catching them, I take the trap to the pond and see if he can swim.....Takes about 5 minutes.  A .22 rifle and light is better than a trap.  "Caught" 2 this weekend.
