I poured gas into my brand new mcculloch PM10-10S chain saw and gas began to pour out where the two parts of the gas tank are joined together. The gasket was folded over in a corner and crimpted where it was leaking and damaged to much to use.  I removed the gasket and cleaned both mating surfaces and bought that black permatex form-a-gasket. Do you think this is going to work. There is a gasket kit available but about a three weeks wait and special order. I was wondering if anyone has done this type repair before. The metal gas tank comes in two halves. Any comments or suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks  Dave

Bummer!

Dave, I thought that was a gasket coating but I could be wrong.

I would opt for the original part.

That form-a-gasket stuff is messy. I would only use it as a last sitch try because the real thing did not exist.
I can change my profile okay. No errors. If you can,t remove all the extra info in other fields and try.

I wouldn't trust that black stuff. May give your tank filter fits of plugging.

The gasket material looks like a one piece pre formed cork. The place where I bought it said I could order a gasket kit which I think I will. Because it is a special order and this saw is no longer made is there any other replacement parts you think I should order while I can still get some parts. I really do like this saw even though I haven't started it yet.  Hey..thanks everyone for the good help..Dave

I bought some gasket maker in the tube and used it and waited over 24 hours to dry and it looks like it soften up the gasket making material so I drained the gas and will wait for my new special order gaskets to arrive. This was the good stuff at $5.00 a tube but it only said oil and heat resistant. I will do it right and wait for the replacement gasket to come in.  Dave
