Tonight I have to check in at the hospital for a sleep study. Anybody ever had to do dat? Da Doc said he thinks I have sleep apathy or something like dat. Anybody got dat sleep apathy stuff?

I don't know what to expect and would rather be splitting firewood but I've had a hard time sleeping for the last couple of years so maybe they can help. Da Doc said if I test positive they can hook me up to a machine that blows air into my lungs when I sleep. I told him I have a good aircompressor but it's runs on 220 so hopefully da insurance company would pay to rewire da bedroom. Maybe I can get them to run a wire out to da garage too.

Wish me luck

Mark

Good Luck Mark!!  Sometimes the problem can be medical and can be fixed.  Enlarged tonsils or something along those lines.  Usually not too serious.  Or it could be little green men coming in the middle of the night and beating you with a baseball bat while you sleep.   :D

Good luck, Mark. Maybe it's just a ole man's thing, and they can get you flushed clean??? ;D :D

My brother in law has one of those machines that blows air up his nose as he sleeps. He gets real good nights sleep now and doesn't toss and turn all night long. My sister says he just lays still in one spot all night. She was scared the first few nights, and though he was dead as he didn't move a muscle all night long.
he's happy with it, but don't forget it when you travel. he came up here once from PA and left it home, couldn't sleep well and then ended up going home early, due to not having the machine with them.
Good luck,
Jim

Mark,

I am slightly bothered by sleep apnea. You don't breathe for a while and then take a deep gulp (as in snoring). So your oxygen saturation level gets way low. If you got it bad, one symptom is you wake up with a headache.  :(
Look up "sleep apnea +c-pap in Google. I'm not so bad that I use the c-pap. Hard to teach yourself to take deep breaths when you are sleeping!  :D

There is no need to say 'unleaded regular gas'. It's all unleaded. Just say 'regular gas'. It's not the 70s anymore. (At least that's what my wife tells me.)

Tammy had apnea real bad. Lost a lot of weight and it went away. Mark, Tammy says the sleep study is nothing. It bothered me worse then her. Nobody to get the bed warm before I got there. :D
I can change my profile okay. No errors. If you can,t remove all the extra info in other fields and try.

Nutt'n to da test, Mark. They just put some monitor wires on ya and let ya go ta sleep. My ex-wife had it and used the c-pap for a while, then had the surgery to tighten up her flabby ol' goozle pipe.  I can't hear her snore any more, but that could be because I moved 60 miles away. ;D  :D   :D

Mark,

By now you are probably sawing logs in the sleep disorder study center. Let us know how it all went.

Sleep tight!

 Good Luck Mark
I have two friends who are better off for it.

My dad used one of the machines for about a year and gradually used it less and less. Then did the Atkins diet, lost some weight and now he's fine. He used to snore so loud. :o Once he and I were in the same hotel room and it was so bad at about midnite I went and rented another room to get some peace.

But like I said, he's better now and the healing process started with the sleep test. Hope you get the same results. Good luck. :)

Mark,
I had that test about a year ago.  It isn't bad once you get used to all the wires.  It is a bit inconvenient if you need to get up and go pee.  The nurse has to come in and unhook your wires and then strap em on to a rolling post and lead you to the john.  Oh, yeah.  You can roll over and sleep on your side with all the wires on you.  The nurses told me they wished I had slept on my side and not my back all night.  Wonder what they was gettin' at?  :D :D :D :D ??? ::)

Jest looked at the date.  How'd it go?  Did you roll over?

I hope as went well for you, Mark.  I had a firend that used the machine and his whole life changed for the better.   I just wish Icould get the wife to gor for the test.  But, alas, she "knows best" like always. :'(

Hi Everyone

I survived the test and it wasn't too bad. The wires didn't really bother me much after a few minutes but the clothespin the put on my finger was a little annoying. I couldn't get to sleep for a long time so they gave me a sleeping pill and turned off the noisy heat blower. Sometime in the middle of the night a person came in and said I was having trouble and the my oxygen levels had dropped so they hooked me up to that little machine. That wasn't too bad either although I don't know how much it helped because they came in several time to make adjustments to the head gear so I kept waking up. About 6:00 they woke me up so I could leave. At the time the little blower was really blowing out the air, in fact I had trouble exhaling and my cheeks were puffed out like Dizie Gillespie. With that much pressure and air going into me I was afraid I was going to start farting ;)

Thanks for all the replies and well wishes.

Mark

PS - I did roll on my side but it wasn't easy.

There's an airhead joke in here somewhere...
