I finished writing the press release for the local media and now I have to start on the articles for the school publications!

A teacher's work is never done...

Congratulations RavioliKid....and to the student won the recognition.  We'd like to see the press release too. Tell us all you can about it.   :)

If you would like to see the ornament entries go to http://www.holidaytree2001.org click on the education link, then select the k to 3 contest. I added all the winners pictures to that section.

You wouldn't believe it, but I wasn't allowed to submit the press release to the papers on my own.
 >:(
I had to go through the communications people at school, and i'm pretty sure they didn't bother sending it because they didn't have a signed photo release.

I was so peaved this morning when I read the article in the paper about the Tree of Hope coming to Kalamazoo and a Brownie troop with a winning ornament was mentioned. I am tempted to send the article and a copy of my press release to the director of communications and let him know that we missed getting a mention in the paper as a part of a real news story - not an article in the district-published paper.

I hope to go down to see the tree tomorrow. I have a really wicked cold, though. It's so bad that I sent my father off to Thanksgiving dinner without me.

I managed to get dressed this morning, and I am feeling a bit better. Dad and I are going to tool down and take a peek at the tree, although we aren't going to stick around for the ceremony. I don't quite feel up to that, but I figure I can hadle sitting in the car for a few minutes.

I'll get back to you later...

That's the way to do it RavioliKid.  Don't let those eensy teensy weensy little bugs make you stay down.  Sometimes some fresh air, a change of scenery and a cup of hot chocolate makes a world of difference.  The Tree is a pretty good excuse to get out of the house.  I'll bet your dad is liking it too. 8)

We went out about 2:00 , but it hadn't arrived at the park yet.

We went back at 7:00, and I go to take a gander at it. It was pretty thrilling! If it hadn't started raining, I might have waited to get a seedling.

Everything seemed to be really nicely done.

Kudos to all involved!

Congratulations to your students and the Honor received for the best ornament.

The tree lighting ceremony can be seen on CSPAN on December 11. Dennis Hastert, Speaker of the House, will flip the switch.

DEAR Rav,                                                                                                                                                                                         I can tell by going back and reading the posts in this tread that you are truly a teacher that gives of themselves as you teach.  I thank you for that.  I would have left tahat day to the district communications people and beenin their face.  I would have also sent the news artical in on my own in the first place.  It is always easier to appologize after the fact. ;)   Thank you for Being a teacher! :P :P :P

Thank you for your kind remarks.

I could have kicked myself about not just sending the press release on my own. I usually do - which is how I have gotten so much press for my school and my class' projects over the years.

This time, I made the mistake of asking the principal if she happened to have the fax number for the paper and TV station.
I thought it was something they might have given to the principals. She was the one who told me I needed to contact the communications department.

I will find out those fax numbers and send the next releases myself! Then, I'll apologize later, it anyone complains.
