Just wondering if it matters which way the Sprocket goes on, Writing toward the saw or vents or what ever they are toward the saw? thanks

P.S I have heard different opinions on this.

My Stihl manual says the 'vents' as you called them, go on the outside. I believe the Oregon instructions say the same thing.

I didn't quite know what they were called, So Writing goes in toward the clutch drum, When I buy the Husky ones They don't come with anything.

Joe those "vents" are called ports, sounds like you have a 8 T 3/8 rim. Their purpose is to expel wood chips/debris from the sprocket and also promote cooling.
Always face the ports away from the clutch drum whether it's inboard or outboard clutch design.

Ok Ports out writing toward the drum, I think it is a 7 tooth 3/8. When Rim Sprocket is on saw I should see the ports.

All the 7T 3/8 rims I get now a days are radial port design [ ports on the edge of the rim where chain runs on.] My 8T rim's ports are on the side.

Maybe I got a old stock, I am pretty sure it is stamped on there 7  3/8, I can count them also, I know it is a Husky OEM Sprocket. I may be wrong but I ll check. I remember when I got it a couple day's ago I even asked the dealer about the 8 tooth and he said I wanted the 7 for the Rancher.
