Very interesting, in-depth thoughts in her story. Thanks for posting.

It may be that my sole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others

I like that poem!  :)  I'm sure I'll reread it many times.

Very thoughtful reflections. Her language is very evocative. I particularly like this image regarding the coming of Fall:

Those leaves that would taint the goats milk
and crawl onto my porch.
They called me to many things;
to the turn of the season, a time of felling and fires,
heavy gunmetal skies against birches,
withered corn scraping and rattling under the moon.

good work.
What is this leisure time of which you speak?

Deidre evoked very vivid images, making the fall firewood cutting come to life.
Beautiful.
I bet your wife has a few more poems tucked around that we might like. :) :)
Just because many of us are crusty ole sawdust makers doesn't mean we can't appreciate beauty in words.

Very nice. You should get member "Bust Beaver Lumber" to carve your poem into a piece of wood.  :)

Tell Deidre 'thank you!'

She did great.  I enjoyed the whole poem, but paused and reread the leaves rising like bats wings as it was a great image.

A wonderful prose depiction of ritual and the circle of life.  Enjoyed it greatly.  Thank you?

I see my spelling mistake now.  :D My fingers did not mean to misspell your name BUSY.
Thanks GERPEN.
Meant to type BUSY BEAVER....not BUST BEAVER. I went back and changed it.
