I'm going to look at a used Woodmizer LT40 this Sunday. Only 550 hours. He owns a lot of extra blades. I've been trying to contact Woodmizer to ask about cost of re-sharpening the blades but can't seem to get a return e-mail. Can someone give me an idea of cost? I know there is a discounted shipping through UPS or FEDEX but I'd like to know what I'm getting into? I'd also like to know about the auto replacement program but I'd settle for my first question.

I have about 140 acres of second growth (mostly) lodgepole pine and need to build a home and outbuildings so it seems silly to buy retail.

I'm 63 and retired without the need to leave the property, so doing things for myself is worth it. Plus my small number of area neighbors would benefit also.

Thanks in advance and what a great resource to learn from.

Welcome aboard Gimpy
You are in the right place to get all the answers you will need. I use wood-mizer resharp and set it up so I always get a full box of 15, they cant always sharpen a few of the blades if they get torn up so they fill the box and bill me for the difference. The Oregon store does a good job on the blades.
roll with it

Hello,
The charge per blade sharpened is $ 7.00. This is Profile ground, Cleaned and Set.
Wood Mizer Resharp has a discount rate for shipping one box through Fed EX. $ 14.00. Re Sharp also has a auto replacement program where we fill the box. This helps so your blade box is always full.
Hope this helps.

Welcome to the Forum!

I use the thicker .055" bands, so I only get 10 in a box. I think it's usually around $100 to ship and return a box of bands. My bands usually break from having used up the flex life, so I don't often have one replaced by WM, but it sure is convenient to always get a full box back from ReSharp.

Thanks all for the welcomes and the info. I am really looking forward to creating sawdust. I look forward to being able to build with what I create with my mill. Being retired, I have the benefit of time and don't have to leave the property to make a living. Having a neighbor that is a logger makes this all the better.

I look forward to following these threads and learning from everyone.

Welcome Gimpy, and Good Sawin' to ya!

I'm sure this doesn't happen all the time, but the first box of blades I sent to ReSharp: scheduled pickup thru FedEx on Monday, they picked them up on Tuesday, and they were back on my doorstep on Friday!  (Thought sure they had sent me a new box by mistake ...).  Great program, highly recommend.

Well no maybe about it. I'm an LT40 owner. While I can't exactly say I'm a sawer yet, at least I was deflowered. "We" cut a small log to show how it worked. What a very cool model. Can't wait to bring some logs home.

Funny part? The seller has my last name. Small world.

Congrats!!! You're now an associate member of the Brotherhood of Bandsaw Millers. Full membership is granted after you have struck a log stop or clamp with the blade.  :D (we all do it sooner or later).

Devour the FF threads. This forum can put you years ahead of where you would be learning it on your own. The search feature is great.

Call Wood Mizer and tell them you have the mill. That way you will get the magazine and new info from them .

I just finished registering my mill with Woodmizer. I need an owner's manual. Is there a downloadable version for the LT40?

I don't believe so. Did you ask WM if they could send you one? Congrats on the new mill. 8)

If you register on the woodmizer website, you can see a parts breakdown of your entire mill, and order your parts on that page.  I know it isn't an owners manual, but it does come in handy.  You NEED an owners manual to learn all the setups and adjustments on your mill.

By the by, I also have 150 acres of second growth trees. Mostly lodgepole pine and some Tamarack. A few others that I can't identify yet. Oh, and Aspen. I also have a few trees that will remain standing that two of us couldn't get our arms around.

Hello from the North.  Email me the year and ver numbers. I'll point you to the manuals.

Once your mill is registered with WM, you can usually go on-line and see all the parts that fit your mill.

Year is 01/01 and it's a plain old LT40 with the log handling package.

I just registered it but it's sunday.

It's the operator's manual I need. I want to know how to operate it with all the particulars. I can figure it out but I'm kind of a read the manual first type of guy.

Anything you can do to help is/will be appreciated. I wanna start playing.
