Some have 2 days behind them all ready. I use to start around Sept. 3-4-5-6. But that was 30 years ago too.  ;D

Our's have been back at it for a little over 2 weeks. They started on the 14th.

Are these alternative schools, Montessori or the like? Our start date has always been the day after Labour Day and Labour day is always the first Monday in September. Our school year then goes to within a few days of the end of June.

 We never started back until after labor day .Why in the world they came up with the idea to start in August  I'll never know .

Not here, teachers are on strike. >:( Normally they start the week after labor day, some start in August. There is a move afoot to go to year round classes with several breaks, they day where kids were required to help with summer farm work is pretty much a thing of the past for most.

Im new to the school scene. My kindergartner started last Monday. It was an emotional send off for the wife and I, but so far so good.

Al,kids have more time off through the year now. I have no idea how many days a years they have to go in ME. Seem like the grand kids have 2 Wed or Fridays off a month.  When I was in school we did not get much time off.
Had to walk to school, up hill,both ways.  :D

Until recently, school started mid August, then in mid Sept 2 weeks off for fall harvest. Most places here now after labor day.

It's Michigan law that schools can't start until after Labor Day.  Zach starts 7th grade and Zander starts Kindergarten Tuesday  8) 8)

No. Regular public schools.

My kids have been back in school for three weeks. The school year ends before the end of may. (Mississippi public school)

My kids will go until 6/12/15 unless they have more than five snow days.  Then they'll go longer.

I forgot how many snow days we have. Seem like we went just about no matter what. Now we get a an inch of snow and school is called off. And that is no walk up hill both ways story either.

Went to school by bus here. Went to school on icey roads many times. The bus driver put the chains on. Never left the road in any storms. The only accident was a snow plow (at that time there was a wing man as well) looked in his mirror and just kept backing up and could see the bus all the time. The bus driver just about had it out with the guy.  ;D

Starts here in VA on Tuesday. NC schools already back at it a week ago.
