What if you spray some soap solution on logs? Would it keep the bugs off?

I have some pine logs that I don't know how soon I will be milling and I was wondering if a soap solution would deter bugs?
I have them off of the ground but am already getting white caterpillar looking bugs under the bark.

Not sure if it will keep them off, but it would kill what's there,  I would try to get the bark off all the logs and then kill what you see.   They will keep on boring until they are removed.
only have a few chain saws I'm not suppose to use, but will at times, one dog Dolly, pretty good dog, just not sure what for yet,  working on getting the gardening back in order, and kinda thinking on maybe a small bbq bizz,  thinking about it,

You better mill those logs now unless you want boards with holes in them.

I agree, keep the logs up off the ground and remove the bark and it should end the bugs!

Two years ago, I sawed 2 huge White Pine logs that were peeled and were up off the ground about 10-12 inches and there were no bugs and the logs were as sound as fresh cut logs!

Stim, You will at least have clean little bugs. Soap will help but peeling the bark will work better. Frank C.
