Traditional Finnish Log House Building Process

Here's a video I came across on Youtube on Finnish log house building process. It's narrated in Finnish, but if closed captioning doesn't automatically come on, click on the CC button on the bottom right of the video to enable it. It's often not the clearest translation, but it gets the point accross.

I actually sat through the whole video the first time I saw it without the subtitles (because I wasn't aware of this option) and was enthralled.  I like how they use axes for about 90% of their work and still turn out very tight fitting joints.

It is much easier than it looks. I have done plenty of repairs to that kind of buildings though I am not as skilled as those guys. Maybe I will reach their level in 10 or 15 years.

The learning curve with this type of construction is very steep in the beginning. The difficult beginning makes a lot of beople believe that they are unable to learn. Once past the beginning everything is pretty straightforward and the more you do it the better you get at it.
