Has anyone used the router bit collection sold by rockler and others to make toy train tracks for small (Thomas-like) trains.  I'm thinking about purchasing the 3 bit set to start making our own train table arrangement.  I would like to use cedar for the tracks since we will be making it outdoors (at our playground complex) under a pavilion type structure.  I would like for the "table" to be about ten feet by ten feet.  We have 7 grandchildren with the oldest just having her 5th birthday recently  and they all seem to like trains.  We would appreciate any feedback.  Thanks

Interesting, so do you have any links to some resource materials that tell more about the toy train tracks you are planning to make?

beenthere, yes I will get those links posted as soon as I find them again.  What really perked our interest was a visit to the "train" store in Fenton, MO where I believe  they make the trains and accessories.  They also have some massive train tables for the kids to play on.  I spent most of the summer building a "climb on" locomotive out of cedar (about 12' x 4' feet-9 foot tall) complete with train horn and bell for the playground.  I will get a picture on here soon.  thanks.

Plan on taking some photos tomorrow of the playground train and if I can figure out how to post, it will be done soon.  Have ordered the track router bit set from amazon and look forward to getting started.  It might be an all winter project.

I believe about 4 or 5 fairly good sized cedars paid the price for the train. It certainly is fun to be able to cut your own material when you want it.
