Looking for a service manual on a 1984 230A timberjack with a eaton winch which i need to adjust. Anybody have have one for sale. Thanks

I don't know on the manual but I have always made sure the set screws hold the band even around the drum then just adjust the big nut up till it won't free spool then slowly back it off till it will just free spool.

Older manuals will apply to the winch pretty much.

Specs for yours:
550 psi hydraulic
5/8" brake piston travel
.070" clutch plate travel

Believe it or not John Deere has manuals, go to www.johndeeretechinfo.com. Go to Forestry then on left of page under (search by category) click Model, a drop down menu will appear, scroll way down until you see Timberjack, go there and scroll until you see your model.

Old thread, but THANK YOU for the information and link to the John Deere tech page. I just ordered the service manual for my 230A and this is going to be a huge asset to keep me going and being able to repair my machine myself. Thank you again!
