Watching the thread and most certainly wishing we could have attended.I guess the pictures will have to do. Did you folks take any pictures . ?????Rob
I cant post pics from my phone.  if none show up by time I make it back to the tent, ill tether the laptop and post some.

POSTON WIDEHEAD

I'm still in Georgia at WDH's.......I'll post these 3 pics right quick. All the pics I took are mostly in my phone. As folks get home, I'm sure there will be lots of pics to see.
We had a ball though and wish everyone could have made it. Jake, Lorraine, Danny and his wife Ann, Julio and his family, Slider and Vicky......and there were others I can't think of right now......did an outstanding job with the food. People were bringing in food left and right. Hopefully someone will add other names as they post.

Here is a pic of SLIDER, POSTON, JULIO, CUSTOM SAWYER and MAGICMAN

Here's some of the "Boys" picking and grinning.  From the top left, then going clockwise is Larry H, WDH, Woodbowl, and with back to camera, GRWeldon.

Here I am... POSTON....with the famous PAT D.....Magics Bride.

Nancy and I had a great time today.  It was good to see and talk to everyone.  The dinner was the best.  Thanks to Loraine and Jake for hosting this fine event.

For myself I had a great time. I enjoyed seeing everyone that was able to make it to the event. Many thanks to all that pitched in and helped.

A few pics.

Here are the two 9.5' logs.  Butt log was 42" on butt wide way and 39" narrow way.  Second log was 31" on small end.

Here is Jake "bibbying" the butt log to get it to fit the mill.  In the background from the left, GASawyer, Magicman, Slider, and Sixacresand.

Nimble Jake doing some more "fitting" work.  Magicman was trying to hop up there and do it, but Jake would not let him  ;).  In the background, from the left, DanG, Nomad, Wildbill, GA Mtn Man, and sitting, GRWeldon.

The figure was hard to chase on this log.  It was very fast growth, and there was some discussion of why this log was so difficult.  Finally we settled on the "Red Clay Hound Hypothesis of Fast Growth Results in Hard-to-Find Medullary Rays".  Hopefully, he will publish a paper on this research  ;D.

The end result.  730 BF.

I would have to say that SP#3 rates number #1 on the "had a great time" list  :).  Thank you to Jake and Lorraine for opening  up your home and making all feel like family.

I am almost done with the last of the cleaning up so here is a few pics.

This is Julio and his son Paul getting things ready for the Low Country Boil

Some food on the grill that was mighty fine.

The little serving tray that Danny made for Julio. We had my wife Lorraine get in for a reference. :D

This is the bonfire that was to hot to get close to. It was more for visual effect since there was no need for a warming fire.

The food that we had the day of the sawing.

This was some of the elusive rays that were in this log.

This is some of the folks trying to figure out how many more directions I would try to turn this log.

Todd  did a fine job of tailing the lumber from the mill. I know in this pic he has his thumbs in his pocket but that was not always the case. I think he handled every board that came off.

Some supervisors.

After the long day we rested.

David, you must still be drinking Jake's beer.  I never had a chair to make you get out of but if I had had a chair I'm pretty sure you would've sat in it since I know you sat in every chair out there. :D

My first trip to the zoo..or to anywhere ever. These folks are most accomodating and so ever more friendly. Jake put me through some shame courses then pushed me into "blade sharpening school" which left me in a bit of questioning. Not to worry as another can of smarting fluid eased the pain and suffering.

My hat is off to Jake and the missis for a wonderful hosting. And all the new brotherhood of sawyers and Forestry Forum I hope to repay you for all the friendship and instruction.
