I am in the process of modifying and installing the Wood-Mizer LT70 board return guide fingers on my LT40 Super-wide.   I need to relocate the mounting point of the horizontal bar the holds the fingers so they are aligned properly on my mill.   What I need to know from those that have the return guide is where does the end finger hang in relation to the rail the mill head travels on?    Also, where do the bottoms of the fingers hang in relation to the blade?

I made my own. I made it so the fingers are about an inch below the blade.
My original design was like woodmizers.
I redid it with roller chain. It's much lighter.
Doesn't make any noise and is "see" through.

You may have to weld the main "T"  tube off center since you have a wide mill. And put some extra weight on one side just to keep it balanced so it isn't pulling down on one side more than the other.

If you have any questions pm me I'll give you my cell. Or you can get my number off my website.

The current WooodMizer made unit is made off centered but it is the wrong direction.   I've already cut it apart and will be welding it back together to be off centered the other direction, the correct amount.

The right side of the left finger should align up with the backstops, or just fall down the left side of the cant or a board coming off the mill.

While you have the fingers off, weld the dragback shoes to each one.  They double the usefulness of the dragback.

You should also have an at least 5 foot long landing or outfeed table that sits directly behind and a quarter inch lower than the outfeed ramp on your mill.  I built a simple wooden top for my first, and it worked great.  Do not use roller tables as an outfeed, the top need to be slick and smooth.  Since you have the hydraulic levers where the outfeed table should go, I'm not sure how that would work. Ideally, the dragback would pull back a half a dozen boards at once and deposit them on the outfeed table without you ever having to touch them.
YellowHammerisms:

Take steps to save steps.

If it won't roll, its not a log; it's still a tree.  Sawmills cut logs, not trees.

Kiln drying wood: When the cookies are burned, they're burned, and you can't fix them.

Sawing is fun for the first couple million boards.

Be smarter than the sawdust
