So, today is my daughter's 30th birthday. My wife gave her a paper plate to put her refrigerator stored bagel on so she (my daughter) could warm it up in the microwave:

A nice theme plate for sure. So afterwards I heard that the plate was on fire in the microwave. And it was burning and burned some of the bagel.

Well, we all had a good laugh about it at the birthday cake eating session at the dining room table.
My wife's second daughter turned the cake plate (same plate) over and sees this warning label on the back side:

In case you can't read it is says "do not put in microwave as the paper plate will catch fire."

Now, I ask you who would ever read the back of a paper plate for a warning label?

We certainly didn't ever think to do that.

No microwaves were injured in the telling of this "I did something dumb today" story.

I brought home desert from a doc dinner thing and put the plate with a gold ring around the edge in the microwave.  it looked like a nice thunderstorm.

Just before I left the USMC I had a leftover MRE and decided to cook it in the office microwave. I left it in the carboard box so it would stand up in the microwave. I remembered to tear open the pouch so it would not explode. Of course I forgot the pouch was foil so when I turned it on and walked away the fireworks started and the cardboard caught fire. The Gunny spotted it and shut it off and put out the fire before it got out of hand.

I got good news and bad news.  First the bad news.....I stacked the quarter sawn Water Oak in the barn behind the telehandler's manlift platform.  Then I remembered I had to anchorseal the ends.  Took the grapple off and put the forks on.  Moved the platform outside and hauled the just stacked and banded boards outside for end(s) sealing.  Then back inside with everything removed above.

The good news is I got a new catalog from Surplus Center!!!

I deal with a fair amount of people at work and as such I have to check the mirror in the morning to make sure I don't look extra crazy. Usually I don't, but I have noticed my eyebrows getting a bit out of control...

Last night my son, upon being asked about salads or burgers or both said "It's a great day to grill!" which made me laugh for some reason, so I poured the dregs of a bag of lump charcoal into the charcoal chimney added some lighter fluid and fired it up. Being the dregs it was all the tiny pieces of charcoal, leaving no room for air to circulate, and after 10 or so minutes the coals were not lighting very well and it was getting late. I added some more lighter fluid to the chimney, and squirted some down the inside edge so I could relight it from the bottom. All that worked out great until i bent down and blew on the coals on top to get some heat going. Uh, it went. A lovely whoosh noise and the smell of about half the hair on the left side of my face being singed away was the result. One of the bushy eyebrows is less bushy now.

Doctor Emily decided we needed to go camping this weekend.  That means de-winterizing the camper.   So flushing water lines.  Making sure batteries are charged, propane's tanks full etc.

Yesterday I got an email informing us the campground at Stone Mountain State Park is having water pressure problems.  That meant sanitizing and filling the fresh water tank.

The short version is I forgot the water hose was still in the filler neck when I needed to move the truck and trailer to check air pressure in the tires.  Yep, I pulled forward and tested the stretchiness of the self retracting wonder hose.

Thankfully it passed!

I did that once with a non retractable hose hooked to a water wagon on one end and a 300 gallon stock tank on the other.  That hose must have stretched 4 times it's intended length when over the noise of the tractor I heard "SWOOSSSH" and looked back to see the worlds longest snake coming at me through the grass!!  Unlike your hose, it didn't pass that test.

Ya know Doc, I was actually considering if I could remove a similar amount of hair on the right side, with fire, to even it up. I have a weird beard and the fire did a nice job "trimming" on the left side. I decided against trying it.

DID you know that a piece of lumber crayon about 2.5" long has the same feel in your pocket as your chapstick tube? Did you further know that when working on a cold windy day, if you are looking up at the tree tops trying to pick the lay for your next drop and you absent mindedly reach into your coat for your chapstick it can be very easy to grab the wrong one?
Finally, did you know that lumber crayons do little to help chapped lips?
It was just something I got to thinking about the other day.....for no particular reason of course. ffcheesy

I am wondering Tom, how you got the cap off of that crayon??

Not a joke; In the mid-80's a group of us were Antelope hunting in Wyoming and one of the hunters' lips became really chapped.  Of course he knew that I always have a ChapStick so he reluctantly asked if he could borrow it.  I also reluctantly let him.  The next day he commented about how the ChapStick had helped him and again thanked me.  My reply was that it had also helped my hemorrhoids.  The moment was Golden !!  ffcheesy

Wait just a cotton picking minute there Lynn! Who said it was me? I was just postulating is all. But I can further guess that if said person were wearing gloves and did not have full feeling in his fingers, he might have assumed he had pulled the cap off. Just sayin'.

Now that story you told was great, what a quick comeback perfectly aimed and delivered. ffcheesy
