Post up all questions here. You might think its stupid but you might not be the only one in the boat.
Just encountered an issue with my BMS 250 sharpener that was a head scratcher, until I found this simple problem. The problem started with simply powering up the unit. The power would light up, but no other function would. It was as if the magnet had made contact with the switch and shut down the process. After checking fuses and checking Forest Forum, and still no results, I began checking the gap between the blade and the shut down switch. Sure enough the switch gap had vibrated to a point that the blade distance was too close and was tripping the switch. After widening the distance between the two, everything worked fine. In hindsight I remember noticing the magnet actually contacted the switch, not sure if that's the intended procedure, or the magnet smoothly passes between the blade and switch. I hope this might help someone....first check distance between back of blade and switch contact.
Since I retired I really like work: It fascinates me. I can sit and look at it for hours.

Once in a while a band with a slight bend or kink in it can shut itself off early. The sensor is a metal detector and if the band gets too close to it it will shut it off.

I am hopeful that this is the problem with our sharpener.  I'll go back out to the shop in a little while and check it out.  I was taking the first light pass on a blade that had previously struck metal.  While I was setting the next blade to be sharpened, the sharpener just stopped.  The magnet had not made it to the stop switch but it stopped just like it had and would not restart anything other than the power on switch.

This is another instance where this forum is such an asset to us members and guests.

I have had a bent blade in the sharpener, bow inward and will stop the sharpener, you have to hold the blade away from the sensor to get it to keep going.

I have adjusted the sensor, and it is back in business.  The blade was indeed too close to the sensor.

Just curious how the blade being too close to the sensor could trigger it.   I thought it is looking for a magnet.

The sensor is a metal detector. The magnet on the blade is a magnet just so it sticks to the blade.
