I dropped my phone into the dog's water dish.  :o
It was just a cheap flip phone, but still a $100 mistake.  Seemed to be ok that night, but next morning nothing.

Thecfarm try putting it in a bag of rice for the day. Some say not to do it, the circuits may still corrode etc but it has worked for me a few times! This phone took a swim in the creek but came back alive.

So this one is just wasteful and not damaging.  Sadly, we only use our camper for 5 days this year in July.  Usually we use it at thanksgiving and then bring it home and winterize it.  Since we decided not to go this year, I went out to winterize it this weekend.  That's when I realized that the refrigerator and water heater have been on since July.  I wonder how much that cost in wasted electricity.

My something dumb took about 10 years...

Our house came with a "tree fort". It's just a raised, L shaped platform with a shed roof over a 4x8 section with a 4x4 open porch. I decided to upgrade it about 10 years ago for my son. We added a second floor that cantilevered out making about 7x8 and a 4x6 over the porch. Covered the walls inside and out with reclaimed plywood. The years have not been nice to it, time to come down.

For some reason, I used spiral framing nails, like from pallets and ring shank nails for the siding. Never again. Couldn't pull a single nail. Had to saws all the whole thing.

Yeah, the sparks and lightning show inside the microwave will dry it out.

Unloading the truck after hunting today I decided I could carry everything in in one trip. Two full arms trying to open the door and dropped my 30-06, right on the scope. Yup, she's bent.
The worst thing is I'm always giving my significant other a hard time about being hard on her gun. She bent her scope slamming into the side of my truck in Maine 5 years ago(slipped on some ice) Then on our trip to Maine this year she dropped it and cracked the stock.
I'm going to have a hard time giving her a hard time now.

Can't you just slightly bend the barrel to match the scope so that you can see and shoot around the tree that the deer just went behind?

Today I discovered that black PVC water line will remain on a barbed fitting under 50 PSI of well pressure for 3 to 3.5 hours without any clamps on it.  ::)

At a guess he had tap water for 3 hours. At 3.5 he had a large puddle outside ??  :D

There are few things I hate in this world.  Doing plumbing work is among the few.

Hope the subsequent puddle was outside.

Well, my turn, and this one might set a record for this thread. My dumb thing began 40 years ago, give or take a month or two. When I had my machine shop I worked on a larger projects with a couple of other shops. We each did the parts we were good at, and the machines we were building were assembled and painted in my shop because I have the space and a welder. In the process of that, I bought a pair of welding gloves to get all the tack welding done, then we had a certified guy come in and do a proper job. I scrawl4ed my company initials and logo on the gloves so they wouldn't get confused with the other guys.
Time went on, I closed that shop and didn't weld anymore and those gloves came into my new shop as the 'stove gloves' for my wood heat. Then they moved to the house stove, then up north where we are now for the house stove. Then I got new gloves for the house and moved them out to my new shop stove. As I said, 40 years of use and it put some wear on them. There are small holes in the right thumb and middle fingers.

But for stove gloves they have been fine. Until....
Yesterday I was doing the overnight packing of the stove and as I got it filled up and it was already starting to take off I realized I had one log a bit too long and the door would not close and latch. It missed by 1/2" and I that long log was on the bottom so I had to unload half the stove, and as I said, it was already taking off and the long log already was charred, flaming, and glowing red on the bottom. No big deal with the gloves and all concrete floor and I didn't think twice about grabbing that log to pull it out and re-arrange. Which was about the same time I remembered about those holes in the fingers. This memory came into my mind right about the same time as the pain did.
Today I made a run the HF and picked up a 3 pack of welders gloves, I believe they are pretty much the exact same ones I bought 40 years ago (without the holes). 3 pairs should last me a lifetime and also get the grandson's a good deal into theirs.

You get back to back calls that there is no water pressure.....Today I learned that it takes a whole lot longer for a 3/4 HP sump pump to remove misplaced well water than it does for a 5 HP well pump to place it after the 3.5 hour hold test has been completed.
