Anyone ride a motor scooter?
« on: July 31, 2020, 09:38:39 AM »
Due to arthritis in the shifting ankle I haven't ridden a motor cycle in years although I do miss it. I've been thinking about a scooter, specifically a Suzuki Burgman 400. Any one with experience please share. I am way passed the stage where I care what someone says about a fat old man on a scooter.

Sounds like a great bike for enjoying the open air experience at a more laid back pace.

I haven't ridden one but we had a guy ride with us that had one. He had a blast and had zero issues maintaining normal highway speeds. As far as comfort and practicality he had all over all most bikes except maybe the Goldwings and for around town I ain't sure he didn't have them beat too. You couldn't buy the upgrades on a "cool bike" for what that costs out the door. Let 'em snicker; you will love it and own the better ride.  8)

Just did a google search, only downside I read was "expensive to maintain". Appears the other cycle companies have comparable machines.

Indeed, if you have a bit of coin and want something faster Honda has a few autos. You could probably find some on the used market, I think they were called Hondamatics a while back, but now they are dual clutch automatics. BMW also makes some quick auto scoots.
