Sawing out some timbers for a timber frame shed to be erected in a town not far from me out of some older eastern white pine logs.
Got one 11'6" 2by slab out of one side:

Dawg,
Thanks for the mention, I'm glad the RRRQS method is working for you, looks like you have it dialed in.  Aint nothing like hitting the rays and tracking them down, no guessing.  Great job!

Lance, I actually got two of the cookies as well as two live edged slabs.  "She" has decided that the slabs will wear the Riteleg legs that I got for her only a year ago and the cookies will be the bench back.  Looks like I will be busy building "her" a bench.   ::)

The most best lumber I've sawed consistently...we have mostly syp here in the Sandhills but do get large white oak from time to time.  Good to know how to properly saw it now! It will be hard for me to go back to trailer decking :D.  Thanks for the insites on my whole sawmilling endevernment...I've learned alot from you...I started with an lt15 and even built your claw turner operated by a winch for it...thanks for the knowledge...it really does help some people out! A tip regarding this: I have Anchor sealed ends prior to sawing and discovered that you can use a scraper or drywall knife to scrape enough off to see the rings. Have clear sealer coming to seal logs I intend to quarter.

Lookin' good Raym.  Are those poplar shakes for the roof or something vertical?  I didn't know poplar would hold up for shakes.  Always something to learn here.

Good luck working in this weather.  It's a little rough around here right now.  I got soaked yesterday doing some light work in the shade.   I don't even want to think about using the sawmill.

Got an order this morning for 150-1x12x10' syp boards and 1x3x10 battons...the customer is in Ocala, FL but is building a cabin just north of Charlotte, NC...He will stop by here in a couple weeks on his way up and pick it up!  Said he couldn't find anyone else who wanted to mess with it cause it's to hot and humid...I said no problem here, I got plenty of stickers and fans to fight the mold!  But I think the humidity is starting to go down a little.

Actually, I think this humidity and heat is  pretty good conditions for air drying pine outside....especially if you run fans on it!    Dead stacking pine is a NO NO around here!  :D

Ha, yes....the trash can is my console cover. The tent was the best 45.00 I have spent. I needed something to keep the sun off of the display because if that heats up the display is not legible. But the shade is an added bonus.

The shakes will be for the shop build gables. They will get a good coat of deck stain sealer. One wall faces the north and the south wall is protected with shade. There is one small gable that has a lot of sun exposure.
I'm hoping to get 7-10 years out of them.By then I will be independently wealthy and can pay someone to reinstall some nice cypress shakes but for now poplar it is.

Years ago I made one of those bed extenders.  I swear I should have patended the dang thing back then.
I also made one that rises about 4' above the bed height so that I can load over the top and rest the front end onto the back rack.  I can take two canoes side by side on it, plus put the ATV underneath

Saved me a ton of tailgates over the years!

Had this beast white oak sitting for a month, so time to git'er down. Was able to whittle it down on the mill until I could rip in half.

Got on the quarter with Hammer's RRQS method and rewards came. Best QS rays in a long time!
